Children of Azkaban

Due to poor record keeping on the part of the Ministry, no one knows who the parents and thus relatives of any of the Children are, hence the need for foster families. Once we start getting Children, they will be assigned to families.

So, you want to play one of the Children of Azkaban, do you? Well, first there's a few things you need to know.

All of the Children were born in Azkaban. Remember too, they were raised in a government research facility where they were experimented on. There are, of course, side-effects of this, the most obvious of which is the lack of proper socialisation the Children suffered, so expect the Children to at least be distrustful of strangers. Also, due to their unique circumstances, each of the Children is required to take a special medication once a day.


The Children and Academics

Due to their unique upbringing, the Children do not have a well-rounded education. They are where they need to be to start their appropriate age year, but most will need help in certain subjects which were neglected compared to others.

The Children had more of a specialised education than others, so when they showed an affinity or particular ability for something, that subject was generally focused on to the detriment of others. Also, if a Child demonstrated an inability to handle a certain subject, it was often completely dropped. Neville, had he been a Child, probably would have set one potions lesson before never going in a lab ever again.

That said, there were certain subjects they tended to focus on and certain ones they tended to let slide. Here's some idea of where the Children's educational strengths and weaknesses may be.

Anything not listed in one of the above categories (specifically, Herbology, Potions, Ancient Runes, and Arithmancy) can be considered to be at about the same level/intensity as other children their age.

Basically, all of the above can be summed up with these four words: Don't Be Stupid. Seriously. Or, in the words of our other mod: "No Asshattery!"

This post contains links to current characters in the game as well information on who is currently being held and who is most wanted. Just because a character does not appear in the Most Wanted list does not mean we don't want him/her.


Notes to read before applying for a character:

If your character has ties to another already in the game, we strongly suggest you familiarize yourself with that character, especially since anything already set by another character is considered game canon. For this reason, we ask that everyone run anything major (such as who's been in a relationship with whom and any family deaths/births) by the mods.

We are not requiring you to comply with the epilogue because we don't like it either, but we do ask that you keep all characterisations in the spirit of the books. This means you are not allowed to start the game with, say, Harry and Draco in a relationship. You are allowed to have any two characters you so choose build towards a relationship very slowly over the course of the game, but the mods reserve the right to terminate any relationships which are deemed completely unrealistic. That's the keyword here, people: realistic.

We are accepting applications for characters who died in the books, but they are harder to get than characters who survived. You must give us a long, detailed paragraph explaining how that character actually survived and why allowing that character into this game is a good idea.
